Our Story

Dutton & Haddy was established in 1972 by Ray Dutton & Eric Haddy. Ray's son, Paul joined the business straight from school in 1978 on a 5 year CITB funded apprenticeship including a 2 year block release at South Devon College. Paul went on to become a junior director in 1995, when Eric Haddy decided to retire. Only seven years later, in 2002, Ray also decided to take retirement, leaving Paul to solely run the business. The business became incorporated in 2006. A year later, in 2007, Pauls son - Addy, started his Electrical Apprenticeship with the company. Addy went on to qualify in 2010. Paul decided he needed another business partner and employed Mick Clare, who became a director alongside Paul in 2010, where they decided to branch out into renewable energy, due to the Solar PV government incentive schemes. This is how they gained the new business name of 'Dutton & Haddy R.E.S.T' (Renewable Energy Services & Technologies). Addy was promoted to a Qualified Supervisor in 2016 and went on to becoming director in 2017. Paul retired and relocated to Northern Ireland to be closer to his young grandchildren. Dan Farmer, who was a Senior Qualified Electrician working for Dutton & Haddy was offered to become a director in 2020. Dan accepted this offer and is now currently director alongside Addy.
